I would like to acknowledge the life off Dietrich Godau, my cousin.
July,15 1960, Dietrich's birth date. A year later, the visit of our grand parents, Oma and Opa Godau, to their son Helmut Godau, in British Columbia, Canada. Oma and Opa, in their visit brought to life the relationship we would have up to present, with my family in Germany.
We watched Dietrich, Achim and Gunter grow through the letters, pictures, presents and occasionally exciting phone calls shared.
Dietrich, after Oma and Opa, visited us in 1976, and we had so much fun.
We went canoeing with Uncle Helmut's canoe and managed to flip the canoe a few times. Dietrich and cousin Peter camped at the lake, sleeping under the stars.
It was an un forgettable visit. Dietrich would again visit us, I`m not sure of the year, but middle of the first decade, 2000. Dietrich and I shared a few Budweiser, which Dietrich had purchased and will never forget our brief visit that Sunday afternoon
So meeting Dietrich on those two occasions meant so much and is an eternal impression for me. Dietrich, I will miss you in this short duration but right now, and as long as I live, you are in my memories and thoughts.
